All we want for Christmas...

Our Christmas festivities are in full swing this year already. Lawson and Liam had their Christmas program at daycare last week. It was so precious, and they both played their parts very well. Lawson was a little squirrel, and Liam jingled bells to the music with his class. I am so sad because I forgot my camera at home so I apologize for the poor photo quality.

We went to Springhill Farms last Friday afternoon to pick out the perfect family Christmas tree. The boys had a blast picking out the perfect tree. They did a great job too!

On Saturday we took them to tell Santa Claus what they wanted for Christmas this year. Lawson was so excited, but Liam was not very enthused. Lawson told Santa he wanted a 4 Wheeler and a coloring book. Liam was content with the candy cane the photographer gave him and had so specific toy requests this year. I can't believe how big my boys have gotten since last Christmas. I look forward to Christmas morning when they awake to see what Santa brings.

Pete the elf came a few nights ago to keep Lawson and Liam in check so that he can report to Santa how well they're behaving. Pete has been very creative this year with his hiding places. I just hope he doesn't run out of ideas before Christmas.

A week in "the lanta".

I spent the past week in Atlanta studying Sensory Integration to begin the process of getting my special certification. I had a great time and learned lots of valuable information. I also got to hang out with a great friend and old coworker, Lindsay! We enjoyed supper together numerous nights. I flew there, and my days of not flying are over. The flight was good, but I can't say I wasn't scared to death the entire time we were 29,000 feet above the ground. By day 3 of the course I was really getting homesick and missed my boys. The course was at The Atlanta Speech School, and their OT clinic was any SI therapist's dream! It was awesome! I had many first experiences this trip...including using a parking meter. :) It is great to be home. Now I must get my home in the Christmas spirit!

My latest love pinterest.

So after hearing Facebook friends post about something called pinterest, I had to check it out for myself. I don't know why I didn't sooner because it is my newest addiction. I love all the DIY crafty things on there and all the things for kids. Today I made gumdrop turkeys for Liam's daycare friends. I think I should've added a couple more feathers in the back, but they turned out pretty cute. I am also making Oreo turkeys for Lawson's friends. I'm excited about the upcoming Thanksgiving festivities this week! The holidays are my favorite time of year. I know it's not nice to put a tree up before Thanksgiving, but I couldn't resist decorating a little so we decorated the exterior of the house. :)

Oh no, Andy is the big 3-0!!!

Yesterday was Andy's 30th birthday! He is another year older and another year wiser. He is the greatest daddy and husband a girl could ask for. I had a surprise party for him this past weekend at Taylor Grocery. He was very surprised to see all of his childhood friends and close family there. Happy 30th birthday baby! We love you so much!!!!

Sweet November...

November is here, and along comes the colder weather too. This year has flown by so fast! I can't believe it's already November. Thankfully I am pretty much finished Christmas shopping so I can enjoy the entire month of December and all of the fun family gatherings. I will leave you with a conglomerate of pictures from this past week.

The Sweet Potato 5k

I ran my second 5kon Saturday in the big town of Vardaman, MS. It was their annual Sweet Potato Festival and my first time to run the 5k there. Natalie, Kristy, Lindsay, and I ran it together.

I ran my first 5k back in August with a time of 38 minutes. I finished this one in 33 minutes so I was very pleased to have shaved 5 whole minutes off my run time. I'd say I accomplished the New Year's resolution of starting to run. Happy running!

It's a girl!!!!

Sorry if I scared you, but I've never had the privilege of getting to say that so I am taking the opportunity now. My best friend, Kala, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on Tuesday! Jolie Elizabeth Langston was born around 6:15 pm weighing 8 lbs 13.8 ozs and was 20 1/2 inches long and is just precious! I am definitely getting "baby fever" now so I am hoping I can spend a lot of time the next few weeks in Starkville holding Jolie so my hormones will be quite for a while until the Fortner family of 4 can welcome a new member! Kala did awesome throughout the entire labor process and took the pain like a champ! I'm so glad I was able to be there to share in this blessing with Kala and Josh! Newborns are pure sweetness!!! See for yourself...

Fall Festival 2011

Today is the CLC at NOBC's annual fall carnival so the boys went dressed in their costumes to daycare. Lawson chose "fatman" this year, and Liam is the sweetest baby duckling I've ever seen! I know they'll have so much fun playing games in each class and eating a lot of candy. Notice Liam even has a tail on his costume.

Fiddlin Rooster Farm 2011

Lawson and I along with his classmates from the CLC went to the pumpkin patch today and had so much fun! The weather was perfectly fall like, and we were actually cold in the shady areas. It was so fun watching Lawson have such a great time with his little friends. We got to ride the tractor trailer, pick out a pumpkin, walk through a corn maze, make butter and corn mill, ride the cow train, see the farm animals, and much more... I will post more pictures later, but this is one of my favorites!

Happy 4th birthday Lawson!

Four years ago I was inducted into the best club ever....the mommy club! Lawson Anderson Fortner was born, and my life was forever changed. I would not trade being a mommy for anything in this entire world. I have learned more from being a mom than I could have imagined. Lawson continues to make everyday bright and is still as energetic and happy as the day he was born. Life is good because of my 2 boys. Happy birthday sweet baby, and I can't wait to see what life has in store!

Happy 27th!!!

My 27th birthday was the best I've had in many years! Andy, Kala, Josh, Natalie, and I went to eat at Como Steakhouse, and to say it was yummy is an understatement! It was the BEST steak I've ever had! It was cooked to perfection, and there was no need for sauce because it was delicious as is. We will definitely be going back. I had a great time hanging out with my BFFs and the hubs. I look forward to what my 27th year brings!

Liam Asher is 15 months old!

I know I've said this before, but where has the time gone? Liam seems to be growing up so much faster than Lawson did. He went for his 15 month check up today, and he is now weighing in at a whopping 24 lbs 12 ozs. They gave him 3 shots today, and poor baby Liam started crying when he saw the nurse walk in with them. It broke my heart. He got to spend the rest of the day with Mommy as a reward for having to endure such pain.

Liam's list of accomplishments include some of the following:
• climbing onto the dining room table without assistance
• removing his diaper (especially when it is filled with poop)
• finding anything in the house to hit Lawson over the head with
• winking (this is the cutest thing I've seen in my life) see pic below
• blowing kisses
• propelling self on his radio flyer roadster
• can say:
Momma
Dada
Lala (Lawson)
Bubba (brother)
Bubbles
Ball
Sish (fish)
Shoos (shoes)
Night night
A-lan-a-lan-a (banana)
Meana meana (I want more!)

Disney on Ice!

Jamie and I took the boys to see Disney on Ice in Memphis at the Fedex Forum today. We all had a great time, and I think the boys enjoyed it too! We all came back with souvenirs. It was a really good show, and I hope to go back in the future.

Happy Fall Y'all!

So today is the first full day of Fall 2011, and the weather is perfect! I couldn't resist the pumpkins when I was grocery shopping this afternoon. Pumpkins are the best decorations....I can't wait to take the boys to the pumpkin patch! That is my absolute favorite family trip...well other than the beach. Liam will get to go on his pumpkin patch trip this year so I am so excited!! Happy Fall!!! Pumpkins make great chairs as well.

Snow cones!

I picked Lawson and Liam up early from daycare the other day and suprised them with a trip to Snow Biz for snow cones. They were thrilled and had a great time eating snow cones and playing. I enjoyed one too!
